![]() Shaba
Safarilink operates twice daily flights to Shaba National Reserve. Shaba is only a few kilometers to the east of Samburu and, not surprisingly, has a similar landscape and hosts the same range of resident animals. This area of approximately 300 sq.kms is bounded to the north by the Ewaso N'giro River whose tree lined banks provide a contrast to the large areas of scrubland covered in thorny bushes. Joy Adamson‚ the world famous author of "Born Free"‚ spent her final years in Shaba returning a leopard to the wild. This was the subject of her final book‚ "Queen of Shaba". On the site of her old campsite is a monument erected in her memory. The "Survivor Africa" installment of the popular television Survivor series was filmed in Shaba and a visitor will quickly appreciate the environmental challenges faced by the contestants! Shaba is served on a year round, daily basis by Safarilink's scheduled flights to Shaba, as well as a daily flight from Shaba to the Masai Mara. Nearby destinations Loisaba Lewa Downs Nanyuki |
